Networking & Social Activities

For many years, Ray Bonelli and Kevin Krantz have selected excellent venues for the CQR International Workshops.  In the middle of May each year, these locations have mild weather and invite the visitor to enjoy several welcoming outdoor locations.

The Welcome Reception coincident with on-site registration on Monday evening is usually on a terrace or garden patio.  One or more of the Workshop lunches will be in a similar location, outside and adjacent to the conference meeting area.  Drawing people into a sunny and pleasant space for an ice cream social at afternoon break stimulates mingling and discussion and creates new professional relationships.

Tuesday evening is usually the offsite social event with a fun group activity in the area.  For recent CQR Workshops, these have included a catered dinner on the beach, a jeep caravan to a cookout under the stars among the Saguaro cactus, a horse-drawn carriage ride between restaurants on a progressive dinner in historic Charleston, and a dinner cruise on a river sternwheeler in the majestic Columbia River Gorge.  For 2018, we will enjoy dinner at Parkside on East Sixth Street in the heart of Austin’s live music scene.

Wednesday evening is a bit more formal event with a farewell dinner, music and an evening of recognition and tribute often including Best Paper Awards, Chairman’s Awards, and beginning in 2016 a new Lifetime Service Award to key long term contributors.

The goal is to deliver enriching professional development in a fun and enjoyable atmosphere which creates lasting friendships and memories.  CQR veterans (officers, advisory board, and event leaders) return year after year and their warm welcome draws in first time participants many of whom return and grow their contribution toward better workshops each year!
